He Rode All The Way To Texas/Groupie (Superstar)
This is a two for one Take This Tune. I first heard "He Rode All The Way to Texas on the Trio album featuring Emmylou Harris, Linda Ronstadt, and Dolly Parton. Unfortunately, You tube doesn't have that video, but you might want to go hunting on I Tunes to download. It is a song about a love 'em and leave "em man who happens to be an entertainer. The sentiments are similar to those of The Groupie (Superstar) here with the original recording by Delaney and Bonnie rather than The Carpenters. In both songs, the women are left with nothing but the radio. Somehow it sounds better and a little less cruel in bluegrass. Apparently Hollywood likes the subject as at least ffour movies have been made on the topic (The Rocker, Walk Hard, The Banger Sisters, and Almost Famous) What do you have to say about stars and their obsessive fans?
He rode all the way to Texas on an old freight train
Didn't miss the girl he left behind
He rode all the way to Texas
Didn't shed a tear
He's letting you know that he's the moving kind
A light shines from my window
Just can't sleep no more
Lord it hurts so much to be alone
But the real men never do admit
It's them that might be wrong
At least that's what he told me in his song
Chorus
The freedom that he sings about
I guess I'll never know
Just can't shake the guilt or kill the pain
But he lets me ride when the lights turn low
Get on board the radio and take a ride to Texas on his train
He rode all the way to Texas on an old freight train
Didn't miss the girl he left behind
He rode all the way to Texas
Didn't shed a tear
Letting you know that he's the moving kind
He's letting you know that he's the moving kind
Long ago
and oh so far away
I fell in love with you
Before the second show
Your guitar
it sounds so sweet and clear
it's just the radio
but you're not really there
Don't you remember you told me you love me baby
you said you'd be coming back this way again baby
baby baby baby baby oh baby
I love you, I really do
Loneliness, is such a sad affair
and I can hardly wait
to sleep with you again
what to say to make you come again
come back to me again
and play your sad guitar
Don't you remember you told me you loved me baby
you said you'd be coming back this way again baby
baby baby baby baby oh baby
I love you, I really do
Don't you remember you told me you love me baby
you said you'd be coming back this way again baby
baby baby baby baby oh baby
I love you, I really do

There you go Jamie! Happy Easter to you and yours! :)
This triggered a great movie memory for Mary. She's up early so go see it.
Mines up and running now.
I'm stretching it, but I think rooting for my team in the NCAA championship game just might qualify as a wacky fan story. Well, maybe not wacky...how about dedicated?
If your obsessed your obsessed. The object of your affections can be anything. If Fairweather joins in this week, the name Hampson just might be mentioned. :-)
There ya go - it took me a bit but I got it!
Take a look--;)
I thought of a suggestion for a future week...not this week though, because I won't be able to play.
The song is Whistle Down the Wind, from the musical.
